In an era of fiscal crisis related to underfunded pensions and cash-strapped municipal budgets, I'm curious to how the recently retired Wildwood Crest Chief of Police received more than a five percent raise in his last year of employment ($130,000 to $136,732). All other officers are held to the so called "cap" and are not permitted more than a two percent increase per year. The $6,732 salary increase in his last year bumped his yearly pension payout by $4,200. No wonder the pension system is in trouble and my property taxes increased by $100 this year.
