Wildwood - Why is the Wildwood Fire Dept. being targeted? Because they are literally putting the volunteer fire departments out of business, to ensure their longevity and secure financial future all on the taxpayer's dime. At $2.4 million in salaries, the fire department is one of the biggest expenses the city faces. And at close to six figures, it is understandably evident why they would want the volunteers gone. The argument is, the volunteers are unable to keep up with mandates from the state. My question is, how do other companies like Rio Grande, Wildwood Crest, Erma, Town Bank, and Green Creek do it?
