Wildwood - In a local paper, Peter Byron stated, “It protects the taxpayers, so no more money is being spent that needs to be. Although this isn’t taxpayer money, this is open space money...It’s a tremendously positive thing for downtown and not going to cost taxpayers a cent.” The open space money is funded by the taxpayers of Cape May County. Although the Pacific Ave. lot is bank owned, the bank will continue to pay the property taxes and will also find a buyer which will keep it on the tax roll. Creating a park is not very intelligent when the town needs money bad.
