I watched with amazement as the career division of the Wildwood

Wildwood - I watched with amazement as the career division of the Wildwood Fire Department patted themselves on the back, gave medals, and had a celebration. They don't get it and neither do many in the audience. They are paid to do what they do, taxpayers would expect nothing less. When a cop performs a heroic act, we are told, "it was his job," so how do the firemen promote their pomp and circumstance, and gets to hear ooh and ahh? I for one believe they are self-loathing, as in the past 100 years there has never been an award given a volunteer fireman. Just another slap in the face to them.
