Wildwood - I just read a spout about the Wildwood Fire Department and the spouter stated that they should get rid of the volunteers. I say, cut the fat. Reorganize the volunteer department. Get rid of those who only give the bare minimum by raising it to 85 percent participation to remain active. The main reason there aren't more willing to volunteer is because of the boy's club. It's either family or close friends allowed. They make outsiders feel unwelcome. Also, make it a requirement that to maintain active status, members must volunteer to be on call at the station.
