Why are the insurance companies, both flood and homeowners, trying to turn our shore towns into ghost towns? I received my new "replacement value" homeowners quote and it's triple the amount I could get for the sale of my home! So, of course, my insurance premium is based on that quote. I'm told the people who come around and take pictures of our properties and quote these prices don't live in this area. Why do I have to carry insurance so far over and above what my home is worth? These "replacement cost" figures are totally out of whack for this area.
