I have been in my house over 30 years so I would have to replace my solar cells at least once and replace the solar batteries anywhere from 3 to 6 times. But the biggest drawback is the disposal of the solar cells and batteries which are very hazardous to our environment. The carbon footprint made by the construction, upkeep and disposal of solar cells and batteries is not so Green. As far as solar cells in space , there are no clouds in space so you have more access to the sun's energy.
