When Colin Powell criticized Trump, saying he had "drifted away from the Constitution", he was the fourth former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to speak out against Trump recently. It is unusual for one former officer to criticize a sitting president. For four former officers to do so at the same time is unprecedented. Trump supporters will say "deep state" or some other ridiculous excuse but these are men who dedicated their lives to service to our country. It is past time for everyone to recognize that Trump is a clear and present danger to our democracy.
