All five communities on the island, counting Diamond Beach, should be served by one police agency, one fire department and one EMS provider, which could easily be the fire department. However, the comparison fails when the spouter tries to comment on the number of personnel. Hoboken has a population of 38,000 compared to Five Mile Island's year-round population of under 6,000. However, Hoboken's population never swells to over 100,000 on any given weekend in the summer.
