I don’t understand the alcohol ban on the beach.

Townsend's Inlet - I don’t understand the alcohol ban on the beach. No one is driving. ( people go to restaurants, sporting events etc and drink ) What is wrong with an ADULT having and afternoon cocktail on the beach.? When you are on vacation in the islands the hotels provide drink services on the beach and at the pool. This ban seems like a carry over from a different time. Of course the police must monitor underage and excessive drinking just like any other venue. Come on, it’s five o’clock somewhere!
