Swainton - There are five towns on Five Mile Island. That means citizens there are supporting five different governments. No wonder their taxes are high. That island should be one town, like Ocean City or any of the mainland towns. The reason that is not happening is because local politicians are protecting their fiefdoms and pensions. As one town, neighborhoods could still keep their identities and organize taxpayer associations to protect their interests. For now, taxpayers should appeal to the state to make the Wildwoods one town.
