To the 'protect the old houses' spouter: That's a wonderful idea but cannot be done. By law, private homeowners have the right to develop their property within the zoning codes. Unfortunately, you can not implement a no-tear-down policy. It's against the law. So, get used to the new houses, they have made your property value for your heirs very happy.
