Sand is carried by waves so in that sense it replenishes but not in the way Avalon states on their website. A walk on the beach yesterday in the borrow area used for back passing made that all too clear. Unstable sand at the shoreline and steep slopes in the water make this area unsafe as the tide comes in. Uneven cuts mean further erosion to a beach that was always safe before. Damage can be seen southward as those beaches rely on sand moving north to south in the system. Protecting homes in the north end is important but continuing this yearly to create a recreation beach there is unsound.
