Why are some people in Cape May County so inconsiderate?

Rio Grande - Why are some people in Cape May County so inconsiderate? Do you really find it so offensive to smile and say hello, or hold the door for someone (there seems to be a local phobia about being first at all costs), or just be pleasant, or not butt in line, or maybe you could push your shopping cart to one side so that others can pass by while you peruse the shelves in the store?
