Rio Grande

I'm not sure how important beach replenishment is to tourism but the Court House spout that the local economy doesn't need to rely on tourism is dead wrong. Because of our geographical location we can never build an economy based on manufacturing; transport costs of raw material in and finished goods out is too high. We produce nothing other than fish and face some of the same shipping problems in that. If you shut down tourism you could always convert more off-shore motels into welfare hotels than we already have. We don't have enough acreage for big farming.
