On 9/11/2001 I was working at a major corporation's research center in Linden, NJ. (Commuting from my then home in Medford, Burlington County, NJ.) Somebody mentioned that a plane hit the WTC. Everyone assumed it was a small plane. The workplace had a penthouse cafeteria with a good view of the WTC across the Hudson River. When I saw the first tower fall down, I got in my car and returned home via the NJ Turnpike, fearing that the highway might soon be closed - which it was.
