The Cape May County freeholders are using $500,000 of taxpayer open space funds to build a skate park in Ocean City. If the land for this skate park is already owned by Ocean City and is already open space, why are we using taxpayer funds to build on open space as opposed to preserving open space? Perhaps we need to have a voters' referendum to either eliminate this wasteful use of our hard earned tax dollars or rename the tax. This county open space tax is not preserving open space from development.
