A Middle Twp. spouter, while criticizing beach replenishment, stated that the barrier islands were not meant to be built on, and he is right! However, they were built on; most of them were developed well over 100 years ago. Though sometime we might wish that we could, we cannot turn the clock back. We have millions invested in the development of those islands and they are the single largest producer in income for the whole county. Maybe folks don't like tourism, but unless you are a "back to nature" kind of person, you need it, and will have to learn to accept it, or move elsewhere.
