Ocean City

It is interesting to see the spouts about skunks and raccoons on the barrier islands. These areas are fairly well urbanized and towns like Avalon and Stone Harbor have very little wild land left. Vacant lots are snapped up for close to a million. I rarely even see the rabbits that used to be all over these islands and the number of birds seems greatly reduced. Yet, raccoons are walking down bulkheads in neighborhoods that have probably been developed since the 40s. I suspect that there are experts who could explain this phenomenon, but they likely are not employed as municipal animal wardens.
