North Cape May - As a recently retired teacher I was interested in the article "School Boards Grappling w/ Complex Issues." One point discussed was the interaction between elected school board members and superintendents. In my career I witnessed at least one superintendent who was desperate to curry favor with the Dept. of Ed., even if the DOE's policies were bad. When asked the reason for this it was explained that the super was looking to get a job w/ the DOE after "retiring." So, since school boards hire their super they need to be vigilant that their motives are focused on what is best for the kids.
