To the Erma spouter complaining about people breaking the law and criticizing the police: I'm sure everyone complaining has not broken the law. I have seen officers breaking the law on very basic things like rolling through stop signs, talking on cell phones while operating official vehicles, speeding to get where they are going with no emergency lights or siren, etc. Certainly, not all cops are bad.
Moderator's Note: Regarding cell phone use by police officers - NJ Statute 39:4-97.3 (NJ Cell Phone Law) does not apply to any of the following persons while in the actual performance of their official duties: a law enforcement officer; a member of a paid, part-paid, or volunteer fire department or company; or an operator of an authorized emergency vehicle. Regarding observance of stop signs and speed limits by police officers - We understand any deviations from traffic laws require lights/sirens to be energized.
