Police salaries used to be in touch with those of the communities they served. Now the salaries are so high they most often exceed the common taxpayer or resident. This has put stress not only to the taxpayer but now obviously on how they are perceived in the communities they serve but often don’t live in. Police used to volunteer in their communities during events and gatherings ,now they won’t show up unless they are paid overtime. Definitely a disconnect going on.
