Dennis Township - Regarding the Editor's reference to the 2000 election results. It was Bush who brought the case to the Supreme Court...not Gore. The case was captioned Bush v Gore. Its always a good idea to check facts before commenting,
Moderator's Note:
A manual recount request was initiated by Gore; the legal case decided by the Supreme Court was initiated by Bush. Gore requested a manual recount of selected Florida counties which were historically strong for Democrats. Florida courts ruled for a statewide manual recount. Bush asserted a statewide manual recount violated the equal protection clause, as manual recount procedures varied widely across the state of Florida. The Supreme Court agreed with Bush's assertion, nullifying Gore's request for any manual recount.
