People will lie, be dishonest, and do their best to disqualify people out of spite or to mask their poor record, hoping they or their friends are awarded a job or promotion. Born and raised here, I've experienced this many times. I worked in private industry and also county government for 25 years. All the same, incompetent and back stabbing individuals are hired and promoted. Management encourages this to control the workforce. Culture is declining. Best of luck.
