Court House - $37 million to build a new jail. We need a new jail with an in-house medical wing. That will save a lot of money. The new jail will increase inmate living areas to meet state standards. I do have to question why our freeholder board and sheriff added a new female housing wing, new vehicle garage for transporting prisoners, new roof, new gates, locks, video and audio surveillance monitors, numerous additions, repairs, and annual maintenance since 1995 into a building that would never meet state standards; $8-15 million into a building they knew had to be demolished.
