Nationwide, July 4 is the number one day for lost pets. Kids are home from school and running in and out for ice pops or to use the pool, house guests do not know to watch for your pet as they move in, good barbecue smells entice and fireworks panic pets. Be especially careful of your dogs and cats now. Check the latches on doors and gates. Put pets in rooms away from the door as guests arrive and leave. Do the same when fireworks pop. Do not take them with you to firework displays or other outside venues where they might panic and break loose. Keep your pets safe for a happy Fourth of July!
