Cape May - In response to my spout that Trump's tariffs are paid by U.S. companies, not China, the editor stated, "Tariffs to reduce demand for Chinese goods, pressure them into fair trade practices." Please tell me what fair trade practices the Chinese have instituted since then. All they have done is impose their own tariffs, which are paid by their own companies and devalued their currency. This has only caused Chinese businesses to buy elsewhere, which further lowers U.S. exports to them. Perhaps this is why our farmers need Trump's handout again.
