Many have opposed the wind project due to the aesthetics and harm to marine life. However there are other reasons. On Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend, the legislature passed a bill to allow Orsted to renege on its agreement to allow any federal tax credits to go back to the rate payers, who are funding the project through increased fees on our bills. The argument now is that without these tax breaks, Orsted may pull the plug because wind will not be able to compete with nuclear and gas generation. What a bait and switch! Don’t think the timing of that bill wasn’t purposeful.
