Avalon - I recently took a genealogy test. Upon doing some research on my family tree, I found out my great grandfather was a fisherman who was attacked by the pirate, Calico Jack. This got me thinking about others who have ancestors who were attacked and possibly killed by pirates. As I look around at local high schools, many have the nicknames of these racially insensitive pirates. Shouldn't we keep our eyes on what really matters - lives? Pirates took thousands of them. My grandfather's grisly death should not be rehashed every time a local basketball team takes the court.
