Avalon - "Criminals don't obey laws." Another nonsensical NRA slogan. The implication is that there's no point in having gun-control laws because "criminals don't obey them." Shall we then abandon laws against rape, arson or terrorist bombings? Criminals don't obey those laws. In fact, if the NRA argument makes any sense, why have any laws at all? Lost to the NRA mentality is the fact that laws have a deterrent effect, and if the laws are not strong enough, do we throw up our hands and surrender to rapists, arsonists, terrorists or gun violence? No, we enact stronger laws.
