Avalon - Avalon Planning Board should be called Avalon Variance Board. A very long time ago, up until the 1980s, this board upheld the rules. No more. Builders and developers love Avalon for their variances. Having attended many of these meetings, and spoken out as a taxpayer against these requested variances, as well as hearing other residents tell the board not to approve the variances, it is disheartening to see so many variances given. Being educated in variance law, I am disgusted that the Avalon officials, who by law must know, and uphold the law, grant variances that do not pass the test.
