The Oct. 26 Philadelphia Inquirer has a story on Lake Como, a Jersey Shore town, disbanding its 10-member police department to save taxpayers a tax increase. Neighboring towns are being asked to submit proposals to supply policing in Lake Como. It is time for Avalon and Stone Harbor to consolidate or share services to save taxpayer dollars. There is no point in wasting tax dollars just because you can raise them.
