The need for upgraded power transmission and distribution poles on Seven Mile Island is not in question. The problem is the selection of the pole type and the detrimental aesthetic effect. Other options were and are available to include composite poles. These can be manufactured in smaller diameters, with similar capacities and storm resistance. Composites can be made in a variety of colors so they can be camouflaged to match the terrain they are traversing — a major advantage for improving customer relations. The current new poles do not look anything like the artists drawings given us.
