Someone is spouting against beach replenishment and saying barrier island residents should live there at their own risk. Nice, but what is going to happen to the rest of Cape May County when the half a million or so tourists and summer residents don't have barrier islands to come and play on? Is fishing or farming going to keep all of the mainland residents in jobs? Tourism, like it or not, is Cape May County's livelihood. Yes, it is foolish to live on a sand bar, but when people who feed the economy live on that sand bar, you realize how important those sand bars can be.
