The claim that guns don't cause crime is questionable, at the least, for this reason: No one is born a "bad guy." The too-easy availability of guns, thanks to the NRA, is a powerful incentive to commit a criminal act or enter a life of crime. In that sense, guns do in fact cause crime. But even if they only facilitated crime, that would be no reason to oppose stronger gun-control laws to reduce the incidents of crime and the bloody carnage of 30,000+ deaths each year due to gun violence.
