Violent crimes have no boundaries. The only common denominator is people. Regardless of being a small town, rural or large city people can and do, for a variety of reasons, cause harm to others. Then we expect our police to protect us, which is what they do. Just the same as a small village firefighter wears modern protective gear, so do police. If others are not aware of the daily threats, they live in a bubble.
