What is with all the new mileage signs on Cape May County state

Court House - What is with all the new mileage signs on Cape May County state highways? They are every half mile on both sides and in many cases, there are other mileage signs close by. I would bet some local politicians are responsible. I think I read the reason for the gas tax increase was due to no money in the transportation fund. Guess this is how our gas tax money is being used. I would not be surprised if some pockets were enhanced. Another example of New Jersey government waste. I would bet the cost per sign is over $100 with labor.
