Deliberate misinformation, alternative facts, self-serving positions of elected reps who further the lies, & those blatant lies repeated in social media despite seeing the truth with our own eyes (like 1/6). “On Tyranny” by T Snyder points out that deliberate lies reduce belief in truth and push a democracy toward authoritarianism. A portion of right wing Americans are on that road - some posting on Spout Off.
