Cape May - Why has Cape May City abandoned First Avenue? The ocean end has a dangerous, overgrown sidewalk that is as narrow as a third-world goat path. The opposite end of the street has a rotten, unpainted, wooden barrier (unlike Second Avenue's steel guardrail) held together by neighbors' hammers and nails. All the existing parking meters in that area are overgrown, with poison ivy and tick-laden weeds. The city also allowed a house to be built with a large driveway, but no sidewalk connection to the existing sidewalks.
