Some years back Cape May placed a buoy on the promenade at Gurney Street intended to mark the southernmost point of New Jersey. Today the same buoy is a rusted out hulk in dire need of paint and no longer has a sign to tell why it's there. The real irony is that the buoy is right next to one of the highly touted promenade arches, which they're planning to add more of. The arches appear to be well maintained. The buoy is a rusted out hulk and an eyesore. What's going on Cape May?
