I was emailing back and forth with an out-of-town friend that morning when she mentioned a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I turned on the TV, and a few minutes later watched live as the second plane hit the north tower. It was obviously terrorism. Because my sister was a stockbroker working in the Sears Tower in Chicago, I frantically tried to call her; I wanted her out of that building immediately. Fortunately, her firm had taken steps to evacuate everyone after the first plane crashed. She called me soon thereafter from home. Just a terrible day.
