In response to the Spout about Sea Islers swimming to Avalon like refugees seeking asylum at Gully’s I ask, what became of compassion? Let’s show some humanity and embrace these folks as our own. They’ve come to our island seeking a better life. Who are we to deny that? I say we designate the six-block area between the Princeton and Gully’s as ‘Little Sea Isle.’ These immigrants have contributed so much to our own community. Let’s embrace their culture and heritage and make it part of our own on the 7 Mile Island.
