Re: combining local schools in Cape May County. Too often the conversation jumps straight to consolidation instead of asking why enrollment is declining in the first place. Fewer children isn’t inevitable it’s the result of policies that favor second homes and tourism over families who want to live here year-round. If communities focused on making housing affordable for families, schools wouldn’t need to be merged just to survive. Combining schools treats the symptom, not the cause.
