RE: The comment on the extremely high service call on your heat pump. I am a retired HVAC contractor from the Philadelphia area and now make Cape May my home. First, go to Google and Yelp and give a review (negative) of this contractor. For that kind of money, they should have done a complete service on your unit, including replacing your air filter. It is companies like this that give the good ones a bad name. Also, let your neighbors know too. I am sorry to hear that you were "taken" . In my 35 years in business, my company never operated that way.
