Wind/solar are low availability energy supply sources. Any power source that cannot produce power 24/7 365 is an inferior power source for anything, especially for critical needs, such as life. Imagine if your car battery or any battery only worked when the wind blew or the sun shines. These green sources also have poor power output relative to size and physical footprint. Maintenance is also obviously an issue offshore. Steam and water turbines currently used due to simplicity, availability and low maintenance.
