After reading the emergency statement from Mayor Sippel it is disturbing that the state doesn't require "short term" rentals to have a mercantile license. I say why? The township should know who is renting their homes on a short term basis, especially in these times. The short term rentals are concentrated in residential areas throughout the township, and have drastically altered the quality of life for folks who live in residential areas. Sorry, but the state should require a mercantile license, and the township should have knowledge to control a situation where many others are impacted.
