I am very concerned about the lifeguards on duty. We saw a caring father save a child that was clearly bobbing under the water Aug. 9. When we looked at the lifeguard for his reaction, he had his feet up looking everywhere but the ocean in front of him. There was a strong rip current in between two lifeguard stands recently. One of the guards was very alert and at one point yelled over to the other stand because he wasn't paying attention to his area. What is going on? We need lifeguards to be alert at all times. If there are two guards on a stand, at least one of them needs to be alert.
