There are lots of spouts recommending the U.S. stay out of foreign affairs and stop foreign financial aid. Well, that sounds good, and lots of us support an 'America first' attitude when it comes to spending; we have more than enough needy right here at home, but it is not realistic to expect that we become isolationist, as some beloved conservative politicos are advocating. We do not exist in a vacuum. Nations do not gain allies because of brotherhood or like-mindedness, they gain allies by offering military and/or financial support. Remember our pre-WWII isolationism? Learn from history.
