An interesting statement was made about the need for assimilation by immigrants into our American culture, but how do we accommodate a high percentage of new Americans, with no linguistic or cultural ties to what they find here? Immigrants consider the English language a foreign tongue and they are puzzled why it is expected where non-English speakers live.
