Where there are concentrated pockets of drug problems in neighborhoods, more police presence on the streets and vice squads makes perfect sense, but the best thing individual families can do if they worry about their children being exposed to a bad element, whether it be drugs, or even bullying, is to move them out of the particular area. No amount of talk or punishment will help with that kind of peer pressure. The hassle of moving is so worth it when compared to the agony of dealing with drug addiction or being bullied.
